Devin Smith, Varsity Boy’s Basketball

Coach Smith enters his 6th season with the Crusaders in 2007-08. Rockford Lutheran ended last season with a 20-6 overall mark, a 2nd place 7-3 finish in the Big Northern Conference, and captured their first IHSA Regional title in 11 years. Coach Smith has guided the Crusaders to three consecutive IHSA Regional Finals and collected a 55-26 overall record the past three campaigns. Smith garnered “Coach-of-the-Year” honors by leading RLHS to a perfect 10-0 conference record in the Private School League and a 21-8 overall record during his first season in ’02-03. Smith was selected as a Southeast Nebraska All-Star coach in 2002 upon leading Wymore Southern High School to back-to-back “Sweet Sixteen” finishes. Smith is married to wife, Michelle, and they have two children.

Prior to his head coaching stints, Smith was an assistant coach for 5 years at Concordia University-Nebraska and spent 2 years assisting at Bethany Junior College (MN) after his collegiate playing days. Smith was a four-year starter at CU-Nebraska and led his alma mater to an NAIA “Final Four” appearance, recognized as an NAIA All-American, and was honored as “Athlete of the Year” his senior year. Smith is the fourth-leading scorer in the history of the Concordia men’s basketball program with 1,659 points. Lastly, this former Bulldog was inducted into the CU-Nebraska Athletic Hall of Fame this past October.

Boys Basketball includes 5 levels: Grades 7, 8,9,10 and Varsity
