How has Rockford Lutheran Schools impacted our children's lives?

It is hard to know where to start.

Three of our four children graduated from Rockford Lutheran High School.  Two of them started Junior High there.  Each one of them, different personalities, different challenges, different needs, benefitted from the education and atmosphere of caring they received while there.

They all felt they were very prepared for their college experience.  As college Freshmen they each realized in talking with classmates that they had already experienced long term papers, expectations of writing well, high level math and language classes that put them several steps ahead of their peers.

While meeting the needs of the students, the staff at RLS creates an atmosphere of high academic expectations, the understanding and support that we treat each other with respect, and a good foundation in healthy activities.  This, I believe, stems from the feeling that they are called to work with young people and to give them a good base on which to grow into dynamic and productive adults.

No place is perfect, but I always knew my children were in a safe and nurturing environment. Parents are involved with their kids and the school which is so important to a child even if he/she says the opposite.  It shows in their attitude toward school when it is a high priority to their parents.

Being a small school, Rockford Lutheran affords every student the opportunity to excel in something.  It may be academics, the arts, leadership opportunities, extracurricular activities or sports.  This, along with their spiritual journey through their religious studies, really helped our children become well rounded and well grounded.

We would not have done it any differently.  Lutheran was the best decision we made in educating our children.
