Heart, Soul & Mind Rockford Lutheran Schools Overview

As we seek to represent the mission of our school in a logo, we seek to bring to simple form the very essence of our mission.  We find in Matthew 28 our Lord's command to "Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey all that I have commanded you."  As a school, we focus on teaching.  What do we teach?  Jesus stated in Matthew 22 that the greatest commandment was to "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind."  The second was, "To love your neighbor as yourself."

Therefore, at the center of our symbol you find the heart, that enduring representation of the love that God has for us.  The heart encompasses the cross, the symbol of salvation for our soul.  These representations rise out of the book, God's Word of life upon which we base the growth of our mind.  Heart, soul and mind.  In these three elements we find the essence of our mission to encourage growth in the academic, social, physical and spiritual lives of our students.  And in doing so, we love our neighbor as our self.
