Elementary

Rockford Lutheran Academy provides an intimate, safe and structured environment for children in Pre-School through Sixth Grade. The Academy is known for its Christian academic quality and special sense of community. We provide students with enhanced learning opportunities allowing them to reach for excellence. Averaging 3 years above the national testing averages, we offer a full range of fine arts, Spanish language study, and computer technology in a modern, well-equipped computer lab.

In addition to the basic curriculum in reading, mathematics, science, health, language arts, social studies, and religion, specialists teach and direct programs in physical education, music, drama, art, computers and Spanish. Orchestra and band lessons are introduced in the third grade. Rockford Lutheran Academy is one of three elementary schools in the U.S. that offers harp as an instrument in orchestra.

Our elementary school students enjoy a rich program of activities, clubs, social events, and sports. Students are encouraged to participate in our afternoon, evening, and weekend events. Our interscholastic sports teams and individual athletes enjoy healthy competition with other schools in soccer, volleyball, track and field, football, and basketball.

At our school your child will discover his or her God-given talents and the joy of achievement. We hold students to high expectations, but readily give encouragement and help them achieve their goals. Our goal is for students to become confident, contributing members of their community and promote their involvement in community service projects.

Rockford Lutheran Academy thrives on its diversity. We admit boys and girls of any religion, race, color, national, and ethnic origin. Our students come from a variety of religious backgrounds. Admission is contingent upon the availability of space in a grade, the applicant's previous records, and a family interview with the principal.

Faculty: Our teachers hold an Illinois teaching certificate and average 10 years of experience. More than 25 percent hold degrees beyond a Bachelors degree. Our faculty inspires learning with their enthusiasm and by creating a unique learning environment for students.
