Spiritual Life at Rockford Lutheran Schools

Rockford Lutheran Schools admits students of any religion, race, color, national and ethnic origin. Forty-seven percent of our students come from a Lutheran background.

From Pre-School through High School our religion program focuses on development of students in their character and leadership capabilities as they grow to be the gifted disciples that God has made them to be.

Academy boys and girls learn about God through daily Bible stories in their classroom or through songs and messages in weekly Chapel services. They experience a welcoming environment to talk about God with their teacher and friends, thus enabling personal growth in their faith with our Lord and Savior.  Each year students get involved in school sponosored charity events.

Junior and Senior High School students develop their faith about our Lord and Savior through conversations with classmates and teachers, topical and Biblical studies in Religion classes, weekly Chapel Services, and Christian Service projects.

Religion classes at the Junior and Senior High School help students to learn more about our own religion, different religions and contemporary beliefs. Students can further develop their personal relationship to God and their understanding of others, thus being prepared for real-life experiences after High School graduation.

Weekly Chapel Services unites our student body for a time of community worship. Students are led in song and worship by their peers in the High School Chapel Band. Christian messages are delivered by a Pastor of one of our Associated Lutheran Churches or a Faculty member. Periodically, students request time during a Chapel Service to share how God is working in their lives.

Annually, Junior and Seniors are required to volunteer 40 hours of Christian service.
Students Examples of service projects chosen include ringing bells for the Salvation Army during the Christmas season, volunteer church camp counselors, serving at soup kitchens for the Rockford Rescue Mission and mission trips.  Lower grade students provide 10 hours of service per semester involving family, church and school activities.

Outside of the classroom, in regular meetings or prayer groups, volunteers uphold the needs of our students, staff, faculty, leadership and programs to God in prayer.

As you can see, the focus of Rockford Lutheran Schools is that your child grows in their relationship to God in order to become all He created them to be and that your child is equipped to face the challenges of the future, and, through the power of God, prepared to continue "Touching Lives for Eternity."
