Staff Openings

Before/After School Care, Non-exempt (hourly)

Multiple positions to provide supervision to students in before school and after school care. Supports engagement and leading activities for children ages 5-11. Morning hours 6:25 am to 7:40 am. Afternoon hours 3:15 pm to 6:00 pm. Options to combine with Teacher Aid duties if available and qualified.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Monitoring hallways and bathrooms for cleanliness and orderliness periodically during day and addressing issues
  • Assist with lunchroom setup and janitorial issues and post lunch cleanup
  • Check and clean main entryway and lobby periodically during day, regularly check bathrooms for general cleanliness and orderliness
  • Perform maintenance tasks as assigned to keep the building and grounds in good working repair
  • Assist with contractors as needed or requested
  • Verifying that classroom and instructional lab technologies are up and running each day and reporting or troubleshooting technology issues with the Director of IT and help extend support to teachers with instructional technology issues during the day
  • Assist Director of IT as on-sight support for other basic level IT issues during the day
Qualifications
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent with skills in written and oral communication and an ability to work with all types of people in a variety of conditions
  • Three years or more experience with similar supporting roles in at least one of the core areas of facilities maintenance or IT support
  • Experience in a customer support role with demonstrated success
Wage Range

Position pay rate is $15.00  per hour.

School Bus Driver, Non-exempt (hourly)


We are seeking to add part-time drivers to our pool of bus drivers. Calls for drivers occur during the school day and for athletics events at night, which need to depart school in the late afternoon.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Provide safe and courteous transportation and support to students
  • Dependability to meet time requirements when assigned a trip
     
Qualifications
  • Must hold and be able to maintain a CDL driver's license with a School Bus endorsement and Air Brake endorsement. Candidates with the CDL license can be put through training to add the School Bus endorsement
  • Annual Drug screening and Physical exam required
  • Must clear criminal background checks required through the State Board of Education
  • Experience driving a school bus is desired

Wage Range

Position pay rate starting at $21.00  per hour.

Faculty Openings

Elementary Campus Teaching
  • Grade 1-3 Classroom Teacher. Assignment possible in grades 1 to 3.

 

Essential Duties for ALL Instructional Positions
  • Integrates Biblical principles and Christian worldview throughout curriculum, while presenting the specific beliefs of the ELCA and LCMS church bodies in balance
  • Teaches skills, knowledge, and concepts following approved curriculum and appropriate learning activities to enable students to achieve established course standards of achievement
  • Utilizes a variety of methodologies of instruction using educational equipment, books, and learning aids
  • Uses instructional technology resources effectively when appropriate and provides for online learning resources and class support via Canvas or Google Classroom, including an online grade book
  • Prepares well-developed lesson plans according to school policy and course objectives
  • Adapts teaching methods and materials to meet student needs, interests, and abilities
  • Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to provide an effective learning environment
  • Communicates with students, parents, other faculty, staff, counselors and administrators regarding academic and behavioral issues
  • Maintains appropriate professional interaction with students, parents, administrators, co-workers, and other colleagues
  • Attends school functions, faculty meetings, in-service events, conferences, retreats, and workshops
  • Strives for personal professional development
  • Meets the physical demands generally necessary for effective teaching
  • Additional duties as assigned
Wage Range

RLS uses a Teacher Compensation Matrix that factors in Years of Service and Credentials, with a full-time salary range between $32,600 ($29,340 for Preschool) and $55,257 for new hires (premium for terminal degree also available).

Upper School Campus Teaching 
  • Multiple Full-Time High School Math/Biology/Chemistry/Physical Science Teaching positions starting Fall '26.  Bachelor's degree in education. Position open to cover Chemistry and Physical Science at a High School level. Ability to teach across multiple disciplines is highly desired.

Rockford Lutheran School currently provides eligible employees with the opportunity to participate in available IRS qualified benefits plans including:

403b Retirement Savings Account - available to all employees, 3% employer match for employees assigned over 20 Hours per Week

Paid Personal Time Off:

1.    Unrestricted Paid Time Off

All full-time (Full-Time Full Year Employees and Full-Time School Year Employees classifications) will be credited 40 hours of unrestricted paid time off annually

All part-time, temporary and seasonal employees will be credited with the following annual amount: the average planned weekly schedule over the annual work term, rounded up to the next 15-minute interval multiplied by the number of weeks in the assumed annual work term, as each are detailed on the approved job description

2.    Paid Leave

In addition to the unrestricted paid time off, Full-time Full Year employees will credited (front loaded) with 40 hours of paid sick leave time off and Full-time School Year employees will be credited with 8 hours of paid sick leave time off each year

Paid Holidays:

The following are paid holidays: Labor Day, Columbus Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Break (Week of Christmas through New Year’s Day), Good Friday, and Memorial Day

Paid Vacation:

Full Year employees are eligible for paid vacation in addition to personal time off beginning with 1 week (40 hours) or 2 weeks (80 hours) for Administrator positions. Part-Time Full Year employees with an average assigned schedule load of 20 hours per week or more (evaluated once per year prior to August 1 or upon hire/promotion into a new position) will be eligible for vacation at one half these rates.
